Interview #3 - September, 2001
 #1:
 BK
First off, have you set any goals for yourself for the '01-'02 season?
GL
Yes.  20 goals and 40 points.
#2: BK Do you feel the Oilers can contend for a playoff spot despite losing Dougie Weight?
GL Definitely.
#3: BK As most people know, you personally answer every e-mail you get.  How many would you say you respond to per day?
GL During the off season about 50 and during the season about 100.
#4: BK Do you feel that you will have to fight more this season because you guys are such a young team and there is a possibility that some teams may try and take some liberties?
GL It is very possible.
#5: BK What is your most memorable fight from last season?
GL Reed Low because it's the game my buddy Cote fought Simpson right after.
#6: BK Do you have any superstitions?
GL Tons. It's ridiculous...with every player every game...little things.
#7: BK What player in the league does the most trash talking?
GL TYSON NASH.
#8: BK Do you like dropping the gloves more at home because of the enormous fan reaction you get, or does it not make a difference because you are so focused?
GL It depends.  If I do it just for fun, no reason, at home you feel the fans.  But if it is because of a need, it makes no difference because I am more focused.
#9: BK Outside of Edmonton and Montreal, what is your favorite city to play in?
GL Dallas
#10: BK Is this the year that you will finally get a good shot at Donald Brashear?
GL No idea.  I don't think about it.

Interview #2 - January, 2001
 #1:
 BK
Georges, this year you have already matched your career highs in goals, assists and points.  Going into this season did you set any specific goals that you would like to achieve in these categories?
GL
I'd like to score at least 10 goals and 25 points.
#2: BK I know you love movies.  What are your three all time favorite movies?
GL Remember The Titans, Gladiator and Braveheart.
#3: BK Do you feel that if the league were to get rid of the instigator rule it would allow tough guys around the league to do their jobs better and would it stop cheapshotters and pests from taking liberties?
GL Definitely. There would also be way more fighting but since the league wants to cut it down they won't change it.
#4: BK This year both Tie Domi and Lyle Odelein have visibly skated away from your challenges at the faceoff and then skated up after you and tried to get the edge by dropping their gloves first and grabbing you.  Does this kind of thing bother you?
GL A little bit because that doesn't show much respect.
#5: BK How nervous were you in your first couple of fights in junior hockey, and in your first couple of fights in the NHL?
GL In Juniors, well, after the first one that I got killed, I never
thought I'd fight again.  In the NHL I remember the first one in exhibition against Oduya who was playing for San Jose. I was terribly nervous, never fought in front of so many people.
#6: BK Picture the league in 5 years.  Besides yourself who do you believe could be a top 5 fighter in the league?
GL That's a tough question because in 5 years, I don't think they'll be fighting anymore.
#7: BK Do you have a pre-game meal that you eat every game day?  If so what does it consist of?
GL Chicken and rice, and a very small portion. I like to stay light for the game and eat more after.
#8: BK You are probably the most competitive person in the world.  Even though the skills competition is just for fun, how much did you want to win the hardest shot competition in which you finished 2nd?
GL I was thinking about it the week before.  I wanted it so bad.  I always want to win at whatever I do, whether it's for fun or not, and even if the odds are against me.  I love challenges!
#9: BK You have had your fair share of cheap penalties called against you.  Do you feel that tough players get called for more borderline penalties than other players?
GL Of course,  There's 2 referees on the ice, one for tough guy, the other one for the rest of the players, ha-ha!
#10: BK If you could choose to be any other type of player, besides a great fighter, who is an offensive threat, what kind of player would it be?  A set-up man who runs the PP like Doug Weight? A power forward like Bill Guerin?  A sniper like Mike Modano?  Or any other type of player you can think of?
GL I'd say a player like Bill Guerin because he plays tough, fights anybody, can take care of himself, and will fight for his teammates. At the same time he gets great numbers up every year!  This is where I'm lacking!  Ha! Ha!
#11:
BK
Last season you were voted by the fans to be the most popular Oiler.  How important is that to you?

GL
Not that important.  I could feel the support of the fans during games, on the web site, everywhere in the city, and it's not a trophy that proves it for me, but them telling me or showing me how much they appreciate what I do for them.

Interview #1 - October, 2000
 #1:
 BK
What is the best Georges Laraque site on the net?
GL
Your site definitely is.
#2: BK The Oilers are off to a great start.  Do you feel that this team has the talent and the depth to carry this roll through the season and do some damage in this year's playoffs?
GL I think we have a very good chance to win the Stanley Cup this year.
#3: BK Do you feel that the NHL should step in and fine guys who taunt other players after a fight, like Donald Brashear's "hand wipe"?
GL For sure.  This shows selfishness and no respect to the player and to the game itself.
#4: BK Georges, you have gained a reputation as not only one of the top fighters in the league, but also as one of the fairest.  Is that something you pride yourself on?  And does it really bother you when guys you fight don't tie down their jersey's or punch over an official?
GL Reputation for me is something important.  I don't care if I'm not considered the toughest.  All I want is respect from every team and myself.  The guys I don't respect are those cheaters that hit guys on the ground, no jersey tie or punch over referees.
#5: BK This past off-season you lost both of your line mates to other teams.  Do you think you will be able to re-create the magic you had with Dowd and Devereaux with your new line mates Kilger and Lacouture?
GL I don't know.  I hope so, but there's alot of work to do first.  They were my best two line mates ever.
#6: BK You have fought both Stu Grimson and Matt Johnson numerous times.  Are there feuds between you and these players, or are they just the most willing?
GL Just good willing.  They are both tough guys that I respect.
#7: BK Are there any players in the league that you especially hope to fight this season?  Maybe guys you haven't had a chance to go with yet or guys you just want to fight again?
GL Not really.  Maybe Domi.  He is the only guy I haven't fought yet.
#8: BK What is the best moment of you NHL career thus far?
GL Obviously my first NHL hat trick Feb. 21, 00 against the LA in Edmonton.
#9: BK Outside of hockey, what are your main interests or hobbies?
GL Computers and movies.
#10: BK You have become probably the most recognized person in the City of Edmonton and have a good chance to become one of the most popular players in the teams history.  Are the Oilers a team that you could see yourself spending your entire career with?
GL Definitely and I think and hope I will retire here in Edmonton.
