First off, I have to ask: Are you happy to see Donald Brashear leave the Western Conference knowing that now you won't have to put up with his antics more than once or twice a year? |
|
|
Well, it doesn't really matter to me. I guess it won't make a difference either because even though he's gone, it's the same result. We weren't fighting when he was, and still won't since he's not! The positive thing is that now people will stop asking me all the time about him, why I don't fight him. | |
| #2: | BK | With trade rumors floating around the Oilers as often as they do, do you ever worry about being traded knowing that a lot of teams would probably like a tough guy who can play? |
| GL | Not at all. I love Edmonton and wish I retire here but if I get traded, life goes on but I will always have the Edmonton fans in my heart! | |
| #3: | BK | Being an honorable fighter who never hits a down opponant or hits over a ref, how mad does it make you when guys throw punches at you when the fight is over? Obviously I am referring to the situation with Grimson. |
| GL | Well, as tough as I am, I want to be remembered as an honorable guy. Tough but right, I respect the other tough guy. There's a code of ethics, if you don't respect it, it will come back to you and also hurt your reputation. Some guys for example have build a good one over the years but when they get older, they got to be careful not to ruin it! | |
| #4: | BK | You are constantly playing with new linemates. Does that bother you, since every new set of linemates takes awhile to get used to? |
| GL | Not at all. I am very used to it now, I find it funny actually. My style doesn't change. The only difference is, depending who's on my line, it will dictate the ice time I'll get. | |
| #5: | BK | With the Oilers off to an incredible start, do you feel that you guys can keep up this pace all year and into the playoffs? Possibly even go deeper than the first round? |
| GL | Well yes, we will keep this pace, tougher now without Ryan but he will be back soon. It is key to get home ice advantage for playoffs to make things easier! | |
| #6: | BK | With all of the travelling for a western teams, what are your favorite ways to kill time on the planes? |
| GL | Definitly movies. I have a huge collection at home and always listen to them on the plane with my laptop. | |
| #7: | BK | What is you favorite vehicle in the world? |
| GL | Well, hard to say, there's so many. Probably have to say my dream car would be the McLaran, the F1 that they turn into a car, but way too expensive to get one! HA! HA! | |
| #8: | BK | You do a great deal in the community that a lot of people don't realize. Why is it important to you and what kind of things do you do? |
| GL | I think it's important to give out some of our time to the fans. Without them, hockey wouldn't be exciting. Look at the playoffs, fans are what it's all about, that's why I like to thank them. I go meet them at their houses, schools, and answer tons of requests like autographed pics for example. | |
| #9: | BK | Do you think that the 2 week Olympic break will be a good rest or will it be hard to stay in game shape and mentality? |
| GL | The schedule is so compact and hard because of it. I think it will be very good, we will need a break. It'll be hard for the ones playing there though, they will have zero break! But I don't feel bad for them, I'd take their place in a second! | |
|
|
BK | With Christmas coming, what was the most memorable gift you ever got as a child? |
| GL | Hmm, I think it's my hockey nets. As a kid, when I was playing on the street, I used green garbage cans for nets and everytime you scored, because they were not nets, we had to run after the ball. When I got my nets as a gift, I was going crazy! | |
| #11: | BK | As a child I know that you took your education seriously. If you were not in the NHL what do you think that you would be doing? |
| GL | Oooooooh, I had to take it seriously. My parents were very severe about it, they didn't care about sports. Education as I learned was way more important. In life you become someone important not with sport but with education, knowledge, and I was on my way to become a lawyer and still intend to do it when I retire! |
