Stephen Leach (UR) |
|||
| Didn't
see it. It was over before the TV cameras made it over to the fight. One
punch and Leach was in another dimension! Leach shouldn't even have got
a fighting major. This was Laraque's first fight since his being recalled
and he made quite an impression.

Matt Johnson (9) Round I |
|||
| Georges
was the only one throwing. He kept Johnson off balance and landed about
three punches although he threw more than that. Johnson wasn't able to
mount any sort of an offence in this one. Pretty big win for Georges.

Stu Grimson (3) Round I |
|||
| Round
I was a beauty. One of Georges' first fights since the callup. Laraque
landed several left handed bombs before Grimson came back with a hard right.
A marathon wrestling match followed but Georges had already won the fight.

Tony Twist (1) |
|||
| This
was a good fight. Two hard hitting heavyweights going at it. Georges knocked
the Twister to a knee but he got up and kept going. Twist came right
out of his jersey and got the advantage in the 2nd half because of it.
Call it a split decision with Georges taking the first half and Twist taking
the second half. This one sure looks good on Laraque's fightcard.

Brent Severyn (15) Round I |
|||
| In
Round I Georges was all offence. He tied up Severyn and beat him to the
ground. Severyn got back up and got beat to the ground again. He got up
again and held on. For some reason he was yapping after this beating.

Brent Severyn (15) Round II |
|||
| Round
II was more toe to toe than Round I, but Georges still landed more punches
and better punches for another victory. To Severyn's credit he did come
back for more after a bad beating in Round I.

Matt Johnson (9) Round II |
||
| Again,
Georges was the only guy throwing. He threw about four wild lefts. It is
tough to tell how many landed. I know one landed good for sure. Georges
was able to keep Johnson off balance again and score a second victory over
him.

Stu Grimson (3) Round II |
||
| Round
II was a one of Georges best fights of the year. Grimson had just put a
harmless check on another Oiler but it was reason enough for Big Georges
to take action. Laraque got the early jump and never let the "Reaper" back
into it. Georges landed about ten punches with about five of them being
clean haymakers. A huge win for Georges over a guy who is thought by many
to be a top 3 heavy in the NHL.

Rob Ray (24) |
||
| A
week earlier Ray went after Edmonton's number one line after declining
an invitation to dance with Laraque. Georges talked about his revenge
for a week, and 10 minutes into the next game Ray got a beating he will
not soon forget. Laraque landed 20 unanswered punches including several
damaging upper cuts. He absolutely murdered him!! Ray was out on
his feet. I can't even explain what an ass- whippin' this was.
You have to hear the radio call to get a real sense for how bad Georges
beat up "Sugar" Ray.
