Nov 23, 05 vs Minnesota
Derek Boogaard |
|
| Well here is the one that every fight fan has been waiting for. Boogaard is an absolute monster at 6'7", 270 pounds and has been running through the Western Conference. There is no doubt this kid is for real and has looked very impressive in all of his bouts. In my opinion not since Georges himself has someone garnered so much attention as a rookie enforcer. There has been future champ talk all around this guy. Well, every fight fan knew that November 23rd was Boogaard's first chance to take on the reigning champ.
Over the years Georges has been more than willing to give the rookies their shot at him and one by one they have learned a lesson. Two minutes into the game these two are lined up against each other and everyone knows what's going to happen. The gloves drop and Boogaard skates pretty hard at Georges who backs up. They square off and are sizing each other up. Boogaard makes Georges look small in the square-off. Not many people do that. Georges grabs on first getting a great grip of Boogaard's jersey and pulls him in while he unloads a huge left that looks to land on the ear. Georges pulls him in again, takes the helmet off and throws a few more short rights that look to land decently. Georges then lands one more short left that looks to land clean and puts Boogaard down.
Score this a knock down win for Georges who showed once again why he's the best. Georges never says no and showed again that he is truly a great fighter. His balance and strength is tremendous and it allowed him to control a fight against a bigger fighter.

Darcy Hordichuk |
|
Hordichuk runs Brodziak into Jussi and Georges takes exception. The gloves drop and Georges starts throwing and landing lefts. Hordichuk is trying to come back with rights but doesn't land anything. After eating several lefts Hordichuk wrestles Georges down.
Pretty clear win for Georges and a nice job going after a guy who runs the goalie.

Oct 21, 05 vs Colorado
Brad May |
|
Jani Rita levels a Colorado player and Brad May tries to fight him, Georges flies in and tries to get at May who wants none of this. After the Avs make it 4-0 Brad May is put on, Georges flies over the boards and tells Rita to get off. Right off the face off Georges drops his gloves and May looks hesitant to do the same. Finally May drops his gloves and Georges starts in with the lefts. He lands a couple and may goes down where Georges continues to throw lefts. A couple landed nicely. Easy win for Georges completely one sided. Funny thing is May gets up and shrugs like saying "what am I supposed to do".

23, 05 vs Calgary (Pre-Season)
Brantt Myhres |
|
I didn't expect to see Georges fight this preseason however when Myhres started talking about how he was going to go after Georges it was inevitable. Georges doesn't really take very kindly to that sort of thing.
They got on the ice together and Georges went looking. Gloves come off and the left starts flying. Georges connected with one and then sent Myhres to the ice with another. Myhres gets up for more and eats two more hard lefts the second of which sent him to the ice for a second time. When Myhres got up his eye was not in good shape, he needed a ton of stitches and reportedly had a broken bone in his face. See the pic in the Photo Gallery of how he looked the next day.
Myhres probably wishes he didn't open his mouth because this fight pretty much ended his preseason, and he ended up being shipped back to Omaha of the AHL.
